@ So what’s INSIDE..?

Deltapolis.2 (with 2 mid-level terraces)

Sectional View – a steeper-sided version with only one mid-level terrace

Description of the structural elements, from the top down….

  • WIND TURBINE – Output up to 5MW, dependent on blade length
  • ATRIUM SKYLIGHT

The Pantheon’s famous “Oculus” admits a surprising amount of light despite being only 7.8m diameter (the dome is 43.3m) and the interior of dark-coloured stone

The primary purpose of the SKYLIGHT is to admit daylight, rainfall, and even birdlife into the atrium.  But the air-flow could be directed and serve as a passive air-conditioning system.

Water from the canal would be channelled to the interior water features via a tunnel system. In warm weather, the air would be cooled as it passes through these tunnels and enters the interior.  The airflow could be reversed in cool weather, allowing passive heating.

    • INTERNAL APARTMENTS  – mostly studios and one-beds – ideal for singles or couples with just one child
    • Some architects might want to create a single enormous atrium filled with trees and plants, birdlife and water-features, etc.  This would be an impressive sight, but would limit the residential zone to the exterior wall – the smaller number of residents would have to pay more to support the infrastructure.  Many people might prefer fewer residents, but 5000 residents (rather than say, 8000) might be insufficient to form a viable community that could offer a full range of services.
  • INNER ATRIUM – 2500 m2 (50m x 50m)
  • OUTER ATRIUM – 180m long x 30m wide (on 4 sides)
