@Finessing the impact of Climate Change

MMCC (Man Made Climate Change) is VERY REAL .

It is not a conspiracy and not a hoax.

This stance puts me at odds with my erstwhile friends on the “right” of the political spectrum – that being the field where I play on most political issues, albeit less not on the environment field it seems (or quite a few others, as will become clear).  The “right” has convinced themselves that MMCC is a leftist-led conspiracy and CC, if it is happening at all, is merely part of a natural climatic cycle like the “Little Ice Age” of a few hundred years ago.

To dismiss a “leftist” idea solely on the grounds that the left is wrong on most issues is foolish.  As the old German proverb goes “even a blind chicken sometimes finds the corn”.

If we liken the process to the slow breakdown of an enormous and very old fridge, the deterioration may have set in decades ago but only recently have we noticed the ice melting.   How do we stop the slow trickle from becoming a flood.?  But this fridge (the earth) is so old and so huge and so complicated that nobody knows how to fix it.  But it would be foolish to carry on with “business as normal” – even if we cannot fix the fridge properly, we could attempt some minor adjustments that might slow the melting.   Perhaps taking some stuff out of the fridge or arranging it differently might slow the melting and safeguard ourselves from a total defrosting.

Those who will live in compact low eco-footprint OA-Cities, rather than sprawling inefficient OB-Cities, could also be safe from rising sea-levels, storms, floods, heat, cold, even earthquakes,  or whatever nature throws. Being mostly self-sufficient and semi-defensible would also give protection from any economic chaos and societal breakdown that might erupt.  This may include bands of heavily armed thugs roving the land, plundering and killing and enslaving at will – as it once was and remains so today in some parts of the world. For those of us brought up in the peaceful and well-ordered society that Britain has been for the last 300 years or so, that might sound far-fetched at this point…but who can say what will happen in the next 20-50 years..?

IS IT NOT TOO LATE..?
A substantial reduction in CE could be achieved if 50% of 1st world city dwellers were to migrate out of OB-Cities into OA-Cities within 50 years.   This may not be as improbable as it sounds – one only has to recall the amazingly quick spread of railway networks in just 50 years during the 19th century
