City Wish List
MY 21 point CITY WISH LIST
I WANT….
- the vibrancy, the creativity, and the facilities of a city
- the conviviality and community-spirit of a small town or village
- the beauty and tranquillity of the countryside right on my doorstep
- courteous, congenial and COMPATIBLE fellow citizens who share similar ideals
- a sustainable, zero waste community powered by renewable energy.
- EASY WALK to exotic gardens, streams, lakes and bucolic woodland paths & glens
- ditto for workplaces, shops, restaurants, pubs, schools, libraries, hospital, sports facilities, etc.,
- HIGH TRUST, ZERO CRIME community where one feels safe everywhere and at any time
- NO CARS – who needs them when you can take a shopping trolley right to your door..?
- MILLION DOLLAR PANORAMIC VIEWS from my patio
- where children are taught RESPECT for elders and societal conventions
- where it is safe for children to play outside and walk to school unaccompanied
- where all citizens can occasionally assist with farm work and learn about food production
- liberation from the madness and WASTED TIME of commuting
- freedom from all the deleterious consequences of MAD CARS DISEASE
- a place of committed full-time residents, with no absentee holiday-home owners
- SECURITY OF TENURE negating the need to buy a home and thus go into long-term debt
- A city run like a good club, with admission standards, rules and obligations.
- every citizen has a DIRECT SAY in the running of the community.
- Of course all this must be AFFORDABLE…
- FINALLY – I WANT MY CITY TO BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY EVER BUILT
As a society we need to end of the insane “get on the property ladder” social pressure that compels young couples to take on crushing mortgage debt, forcing both partners into full-time work, which tends to delay having children until their mid-30’s, resulting in too many single child and childless families.
