Imagination Laughs at Insulation
THE EASIEST TYPE OF HOME TO INSULATE WOULD BE ONE WITH NO ROOF AND ONLY ONE EXTERIOR WALL..!
CAN ANYONE GUESS THE SHDPE OF SUCH A BUILDING..?
“Better home insulation” is constantly being touted by the Green Lobby as one of the most effective things we can do to achieve the environmental Holy Grail of carbon “net zero”. It is estimated that 20 million UK homes are not up to modern insulation standards and need to be “better-insulated”, hopefully with the “government” footing the massive bill. But the materials needed to retro-fit 20 million “leaky” homes would create 20 million skip-loads of waste materials along with clouds of dust and pollution. When one also takes into consideration that a typical family home has a lifespan of less than 100 years, if that, it does seem like a very wasteful exercise and an unimaginative idea bordering on desperation.
OASIS CITIES will be future-proofed and built to last AT LEAST 500 YEARS..!
“Residential buildings normally last between 70 and 100 years”, says Renato Piffaretti, Head of Real Estate Switzerland at Swiss Life Asset Managers. This is borne out by building statistics: the renewal ratio in Switzerland is slightly higher than one percent. That means about one out of 100 houses is replaced every year, which supports the just under 100-year lifespan. According to a study by the European Parliament, that also corresponds to the typical renewal ratio in Europe.
