APOLOGIES - this "Brief" is not as brief as I originally intended..!
This landing page was to have had no more than a handful of sub-tabs giving a brief outline of the idea. However, there are now many more (some are duplicated elsewhere on the site) because the possibilities and potentialities of Oasis-Cities are so exciting that I feel compelled to put my thoughts on the record. And, since some topics defy easy categorisation, I use this space as a convenient “temporary” parking spot.
CAR-FREE, COMMUTE-FREE, CARE-FREE & CRIME-FREE..!
Today, Oasis-Cities will be ridiculed. Tomorrow, Nimbys and the forces of the status quo will fight to prevent it becoming a reality. The Day after Tomorrow, it will be hailed retrospectively as the obvious solution to all our societal and environmental problems – and the greatest advance since the dawn of civilisation.

NOT A SINGLE ONE of the above “solutions” would even be necessary were we to widely adopt Oasis-Cities which, without any effort, would reduce our domestic energy consumption by 60-80%, and resource consumption possibly by a similar amount.

<span style="font-size: 16pt;">ITS NOT JUST THE PLANET <span style="font-size: 18pt;">WHICH</span> NEEDS SAVING...</span> The idea of OASIS CITIES came about due to my lifelong aversion to the hideous sprawl housing development that – for the past 100 years or more – has been chewing-up and obliterating our countryside, bloating and ruining our historic towns and villages and eradicating our woodlands and wildlife. Of all the many problems in search of solutions which the media is constantly bombarding us with, “global warming” (now re-branded as “climate change”) is arguably the most intractable. But, if our earnest eco-pundits are united on any one thing it is that electric vehicles (EV’s) are an indispensable part of any solution to our eco-woes. Sorry, but EV’s are just as harmful as ICEv’s but – MORE IMPORTANTLY – they are a huge distraction from the real eco-culprit – the elephant in the room which everyone seems totally oblivious to – the unwieldly inefficient size and structureless SHAPE OF OUR CITIES which makes public transport hopelessly inefficient, thus making cars almost indispensable for getting to work, shops, schools, leisure pursuits, etc..! We cannot begin to solve the eco-crisis unless we dispense with this reliance – and that means building CITIES THAT DO NOT NEED CARS..! But, the more I thought about the problems, the more it occurred to me that ecological threats – serious as they are – are just the tip of an enormous iceberg that threatens to sink western civilisation itself..! OASIS CITIES could be the solution not just to pollution and waste, but a whole host of seemingly intractable issues which are steadily piling up. Armed with this GAME-CHANGING CITY concept, I often feel the urge to jump into TV eco-discussions like Superman announcing portentously “Listen good citizens – if you were to build Oasis Cities all these problems you keep agonising-over would simply evaporate..!” I feel confident in saying that almost every ecological, financial, and societal problem that can be named can be solved – or at least greatly ameliorated – by OASIS-CITIES. I believe the OA-city concept is the key to unlock a series of hidden doors which open onto an infinite range of possibilities and innovations in ECOLOGY, ECONOMICS, EDUCATION, ENERGY, HEALTHCARE, POLITICS, PUBLIC SAFETY & SECURITY, SOCIETY, SUSTAINABILITY, TRANSPORT, and you name it..! And, for the cherry on the cake, OA-Cities will even finesse the problems and discomfort caused by BAD WEATHER..!!! Oasis-Cities are the ONLY practical way to solve – or at least greatly ameliorate – the entire litany of un-resolved – and otherwise un-resolvable – environmental, social, political, and economic issues that have been piling up for decades. If we, by which I mean “western civilisation”, are ever to achieve a SIGNIFICANT and MEANINGFUL REDUCTION in our prolific carbon-footprint – and our horrendous land usage/degradation/wastage – Oasis-Cities is the simplest and the most ESTHETICALLY ELEGANT way to achieve these goals.
ITS THE NO-BRAINER OF ALL NO-BRAINERS – a “one-stop-shop” solution..!

Once a few prototype Oasis-Cities have been established – and visited by millions of curious (fee paying..!) sightseers, most of whom will immediately realise what an amazing lifestyle improvement they represent – it will launch the BIGGEST BUILDING BOOM in history..! But, due to the great demand, decades may pass before most of the population (of advanced countries) make the smart switch from OB-Cities (Obese Cities, geddit?) to OA-Cities, and thus are able to ride out the chaos without.
<em><strong>CAN IT REALLY HAPPEN THAT QUICKLY..?</strong></em>
Some will argue that a “few decades” is too brief a period for such a civilisation-changer to take hold. But they should recall that the “Coming of the Railways” launched an equally rapid infrastructural and societal change when, for the first time in history, ordinary people were able to travel beyond their immediate horizon. Within just 30 years of the first passenger train in 1830, 90% of the UK population were regularly taking train journeys. If such a change could happen so rapidly 200 years ago, the enormous infrastructural and societal paradigm-shift represented by Oasis-Cities could well take hold even more quickly. All it will take is a SINGLE PROTOTYPE. “BUILD IT and the WORLD WILL (PAY TO) COME and SEE IT..!”
Among countless other exciting possibilities, OASIS-CITIES could be the catalyst for the re-emergence of CITY-STATES that would be free of the corruption and inefficiency of big centralised governments, and the dead hand of the leftist feminist “nanny-statist” DECADENCE the West has become mired in.
